Summer is finally here and the warm soft sun can warm our bones after the harsh long winter.

I am working on a series exploring the female form. The natural beauty of the female body facinates me and I am also concerned with capturing the transiency and fragility of youth. I hope to find an exhibition space to exhibit for National Women's Day next year.

I am interested in clothing being the most basic and fundamental form of human expression. We notice what someone is wearing before engaging them in conversation. Before they have uttered a single word we have often judged them. Often we make judgements about people based solely, or largely, on the clothes they are wearing. Fashion permeates our everyday lives on a subconscious level that we are often not even aware of. Lovers or haters of fashion, all are under its spell.

The Passage of Time. My grandpa has dementia and is living in a nursing home as he needs constant care. Everyday pleasures - walking his dog, chatting to neighbours, popping out for the newspaper - now confined to his mind. His house, once so full of life and laughter, is still full of his personal belongings yet is empty without his presence. An unnerving paradox, a reminder of the unalterable passing of time and the transitory nature of life. I am pained by the realisation that the emotional heart of his house has been ripped out. Only memories remain. I am gripped and choked by nostalgia.
